First carpentry project! Something simple like a Dining Room Table

Preface: Still getting used to reddit formatting / posting, so bear with me.

Anyways, just wanted to show you guys my first carpentry project ever! I really wanted to make myself a proper workbench first, but with certain events coming up and my wife needing me to do other things first, I had to go with tackling a dining room table.

Here's the link: http://ift.tt/1Ltd0bO

Had to borrow a table saw from a friend, and bought a Kreg jig. So the only tools I had were Drill, Saw, and Kreg. Next step is staining and finishing, but other than that the table is pretty much done.

Any tips for staining, or suggestions for future project where I eventually remake this with better wood? Unfortunately, due to a combination of time, price, and inexperience, I went with "whitewood".
